Bahorel is taking his time about getting back to the Bar for a quick break. He stops when he sees Fantine, and starts to call a greeting-- and stops again, waving instead, when he sees the bird hopping around uncaged at her feet.

His voice, when he's close enough to speak quietly, is low and delighted. "It is a skylark. I haven't seen them here at all. --Yours?"
